Cookies and similar browser storage identified in the Ridom application code.
1. Scope
Cookies store small pieces of browser data. Ridom also uses localStorage and sessionStorage; this policy includes those technologies.
This inventory is based on code review. The private ChatGPT Sites host may add its own authentication/security storage. Browser and network checks on the final public domain, including payment providers, remain necessary before launch.
2. Login and booking
__Host-ridom_auth: independent account session, HttpOnly, Secure, up to 8 hours, when independent login is activated.
__Host-ridom_flow: browser binding for login/verification, HttpOnly, Secure, normally 10 minutes for Google and up to 30 minutes for email verification.
__Host-ridom_guest: protected guest-booking access, HttpOnly, Secure, up to 30 days. It does not grant access to another customer’s bookings.
rn_next_session: technical access session for the hosted environment. It is not an advertising identifier.
3. Support and temporary storage
rentalnow_support identifies a visitor in chat they open, HttpOnly, up to 30 days. Removing the cookie does not automatically delete messages already sent.
sessionStorage keys support-thread, support-open, support-compose and reply drafts preserve the current chat position and draft text. ridom-auth-kind, ridom-auth-intent, ridom-auth-next and ridom-auth-locale support return to the intended login/booking flow. They normally expire with the tab session, subject to browser session restoration.
4. Preferences and search
rentalnow-language and rn-display-currency store the selected language and display currency in localStorage. When you pick a language in the menu, a cookie with the same name (rentalnow-language, up to 12 months, not HttpOnly) is also set so the home page opens directly in the language you chose. If you have not chosen, the home page picks a language from your browser’s languages or, if those are not available, from the country of your connection, without storing anything. rentalnow.search.v1 retains destination/date choices.
The current localStorage implementation has no automatic expiry: values remain until replaced or cleared through browser settings. sessionStorage drafts may contain text you typed. On shared devices, end the session and clear stored data when finished.
Storage strictly necessary for a service you request is distinguished from optional storage. Language, currency and search preferences are stored only because you choose them and are not used for statistics or advertising.
ridom-cookie-consent: localStorage holding your choice about statistics cookies (accepted or declined) and its date. It is needed to honour your choice and you are asked again after 12 months.
5. Statistics (Google Analytics), advertising and newsletter
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, for statistics about the public pages of Ridom: which pages are viewed, from which country, device and language, how many visitors reach a booking and how many bookings are completed. The purpose is to improve how Ridom works and what it offers. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Article 4(5) of Greek Law 3471/2006).
The choice is offered in the banner shown on public pages, with equal buttons “Accept statistics” and “Necessary only”. Before you choose, and if you choose “Necessary only”, no Google Analytics code is loaded, no statistics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. Google Analytics is never loaded in the sign-in, customer account, partner, staff and administration areas.
If you accept statistics, the cookies _ga and _ga_6HKW0VF5M3 are set. They are first-party Google Analytics cookies holding a random identifier that distinguishes the browser and the session so visitors and visits can be counted. Duration: up to 13 months. No advertising cookies are set.
Data sent to Google: the page address without query-string parameters or the part after #, page title, referrer, language, device and browser type, and approximate location (country/city), which Google derives without logging or storing the IP address. Usage events are also sent: vehicle view, search (category, destination, number of days), payment start and booking completion (booking reference, amount and vehicle). Name, email, phone number, payment details, document numbers and chat content are not sent.
Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. We do not enable Google signals, ad personalisation or advertising features.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it: from the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every public page or from the “Change cookie choice” button on this page. Withdrawal stops new data being sent and removes the Google Analytics cookies from your device; it does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Your choice is stored on your device for 12 months and you are then asked again. Declining does not affect access or booking.
Google may process the data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, under Google’s data processing terms and the Chapter V GDPR mechanisms that apply, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. Meta Pixel and other advertising cookies are not used. If added in future, they will load only after separate consent for advertising and this policy will be updated before they are activated.
Cookie consent does not subscribe a visitor to a newsletter. Optional newsletter registration will have separate confirmation and unsubscribe controls.
6. Browser controls and contact
View and clear cookies and storage in your browser settings. Removing necessary storage may sign you out or interrupt booking continuity. Contact info@rentalnow.gr with questions.
